He said Interior Ministry gave a special instruction on the maintenance of public order and safety in the republic, including the capital. “As every year, Baku police will tighten security measures on October 24 in connection with the day of Ashura and public order will be ensured,” he said.
Bagirov said extra police officers will be deployed to ensure public safety in all mosques and sanctuaries in Baku.
“There will be no police interference in places where religious rites will be practiced. But ceremonies and marches beyond certain places will be prevented,” he said.
The Baku State Traffic Police Department told APA that traffic police will also tighten security on the same day. The State Traffic Police Office has deployed necessary forces to ensure traffic safety in and near places where the Ashura rituals will be held. Traffic may be restricted in some places due to the rituals.
