2,801 (51.9 percent) of 5,397 people have been infected with HIV through injection drug use in Azerbaijan from 1992 to 2015. Totally 2,784 underwent antiretroviral therapy (HAART) till 2015, 408 underwent HAART in 2015. According to the report 131 of them are injection drug users. 1403 of total 2,784 patients are injection drug users and 545 of them are undergoing antiretroviral therapy in penitentiary service. Blood sample of patients registered in Republican Drug Centre are regularly sent to laboratories of Republic Center of the Struggle against AIDS and its laboratories in regions. 123 people were infected with HIV through intravenous drugs use during the period.
