APA reports that the conference is attended by representatives of 10 international organizations and ministers and experts from 51 countries. Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov read President Ilham Aliyev’s letter of congratulation and made a keynote speech.
Thereafter, ISESCO Director-General Abdulaziz bin Othman al Twaijri and the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family , Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova made speeches.
Hijran Huseynova noted that ISESCO carries out noble mission. According to her, ISESCO has carried out great activities during 24 years: “The organization aims at establishing relations among the countries in the spheres of science, education and culture of the countries and dialogue among nations. ISESCO’s activity is not restricted only to the Islamic countries. It is also closely cooperating with the countries, where there are few Muslims, and developing programs for improvement of science, culture and education”.
Huseynova said that one of the main goals of the ISESCO is to protect rich historical heritage of the Muslim countries that have faced wars and to deliver them to the future generations. The Chairperson has reminded that 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories have been under occupation: “There were hundreds of cultural, historical and religious monuments in these lands. They have been atrociously destroyed. These atrocities are committed not only against cultural and historical monuments, but also against people, the old, women and children. We inform the world community, international organizations about these facts, these realities. We highly appreciate ISESCO’s support in this. Heydar Aliyev Foundation and ISESCO signed a document on cooperation in 2007. Various events and projects on science, education and culture have been realized in accordance with this document. In this regard the contributions made by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva to our country’s progress are undeniable.
Conference document on “Early childhood education and urbanization problems” and resolution entitled “Issue of urbanization in Muslim countries” will be adopted at the two-day conference.
