The meeting kicked off after participants remembered with a minute of silence the oil workers killed in the fire on Platform 10 at the Gunashli offshore field and the Vikhr-9 firefighter ship’s captain Vyacheslav Kryuchkov, who has recently died of a heart failure,
Minister of Emergency Situations Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov reminded that national leader Heydar Aliyev used to pay much attention to people’s security – the principle that is now followed by President Ilham Aliyev.
Heydarov said Azerbaijan is located in a zone of floods, landslides, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
“In December 2005, the Ministry of Emergency Situations was created. We then gave some powers of the ministry to regional centers so that there would no need to come to Baku. At the expense of the funs allocated after President Ilham Aliyev’s orders, a great deal of firefighter vehicles, helicopters, and even planes that are nowhere in the parks of major countries today,” he noted.
The minister stressed that the ministry’s Academy is one of the best education institutions in Azerbaijan.
In the event, the ministry’s employees awarded by President Ilham Aliyev were presented with orders, medals and diplomas.
The minister mentioned that the presidential decree to award the ministry employees is value given to the work done. “We should try to avoid shortcomings in the area that we bear responsibility for, and for that nobody remains dissatisfied with the ministry’s activities,” headed.
In the end, the meeting participants appealed to President Ilham Aliyev.
