Senior researcher of meteorology, climatology and agrometeorology department of the ANAS Geography Institute, PhD in Geography Maharram Hasanov told APA that researches on climate change and forecast have been carried out in the country since the 70s of the last century.

He said according to the forecasts, temperature is increasing in Azerbaijan.

Hasanov said the temperature increased by 0.2-0.6 C in Azerbaijan.

“This figure reached 0.9 C in some places, mainly in lowland districts,” he noted.

The senior researcher added that temperature increase is observed in the world since 50s of the 20th century.

“The average temperature is 14.6 C now. It is related with man-made and natural factors. The main causes are air pollution, in particular the influence of anthropogenic factors, the increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide. The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide reached 0.33%, as it was 0.30% in 50-60s,” he said.
