Baku. Real Jafarli – APA. The Magbarat al-Shuara (The Mausoleum of Poets) complex in Tabriz, the capital city of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, may collapse.
APA reports quoting Oyannews that despite the warnings of experts, construction works have started around the mausoleum. With the consent of the Tabriz City Municipality, a new building has been being built near the monument since a couple of months ago. In the spring of 2013, the excavation works conducted by the Iranian Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization at the entrance of and around Magbarat al-Shuara had also caused damage to the monument.
This historical site has been a burial site of poets and writers since at least 7 centuries ago. More than 400 poets and writers were buried at Magbarat al-Shuara. But their graves were washed away and lost as a result of disastrous floods and earthquakes occurred in Tabriz.
A number of well-known personalities like Asadi Tusi, Gatran Tabrizi, Mahammad Huseyn Shahriyar, Mujiraddin Beylagani, Khagani Shirvani, Zahiraddin Farabi, Shahpur Nishapuri, Shamsaddin, Sajjasi, Zulfugar Shirvani, Hammam Tabrizi, Maghribi Tabrizi, Mani Shirazi, Lisani Shirazi, Shakibi Shirazi, and others were buried in this mausoleum.
