Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. Azerbaijan has managed to reduce case-detection rate for tuberculosis by 3.3 times since 2000, infant and maternal mortality rate has decreased. APA reports that these figures have been revealed in the “World Heath Statistics 2013” report of the World Health Organization.
According to the statistics, incidence rate for tuberculosis was 682 in 2000, 113 in 2013 in Azerbaijan. Prevalence of tuberculosis (per 100 000 population) was 117 in the country in 2011. This figure was 78 in Armenia, 159 in Georgia.
The spread of HIV/AIDS has increased in the three countries of the South Caucasus. In Azerbaijan, prevalence of HIV/AIDS (per 100 000 population) was 36 in 2001 and 72 in 2011. This figure is higher in Armenia and Georgia. Prevalence of HIV/AIDS (per 100 000 population) is 155 in Armenia and 114 in Georgia.
During last 21 years, the infant mortality rate per 1000 live-births reduced to 39 from 75 and maternal mortality rate per 100 live-births to 56 from 43.
Compared to 1990, life expectancy increased in Azerbaijan. In 2011, male life expectancy male made 69 years (60 years in 1990) and female life expectancy 74 years (66 years in 1990).
In Armenia, male life expectancy increased from 63 to 67 years, female life expectancy from 71 to 75 years and in Georgia, male life expectancy increased from 66 to 68 years, female life expectancy from 73 to 76 years.
According to the world health statistics, in Azerbaijan prevalence of smoking rate among males aged ≥15 is 41 percent. In Armenia this rate among males is 51 percent and among females is 2 percent and in Georgia among males is 57 percent and among females is 6 percent.
WHO statistics also contains data on obesity rate in Azerbaijan. According to statistics, in Azerbaijan male obesity rate is 15.8 percent, women obesity rate is 32.1 percent. In Armenia, male obesity rate is 14.4 percent and women obesity rate is 30.2 percent and in Georgia is relatively 15.9 and 25.7 percent.
