The European Union believes in the bright future of this region, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said in a press statement with President Ilham Aliyev, APA's correspondent reports.
“We discussed further deepening our economic partnership. The European Union is already Azerbaijan's largest trading partner and biggest investor. Now we want to build further on this strong foundation. Resuming negotiations on a new comprehensive agreement is an important step in this direction. It could open up new opportunities for further expanding trade between Azerbaijan and the European Union, and we will work together to achieve progress. Thus, the European Union believes in the bright future of this region. Let us work together to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus, strengthen the South Caucasus' connectivity with Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia, and further reinforce our partnership,” the President of the European Commission noted.
