"One of the new areas of our relations with the European Commission is renewable energy. We discussed this issue in detail with the President of the Commission. Taking into account Azerbaijan's solar, wind, and hydropower potential, the existing electricity transmission lines, and the new ones to be built in the future, we can also become strategic partners in this field.
In this regard, I informed the President of the Commission that the agreements signed so far with foreign and local companies will make it possible to generate 8 gigawatts of solar and wind energy over the next five to six years," President Ilham Aliyev said.
