“Azerbaijan is successfully combining its strategic geographical position with its growing economic, political, and regional influence,” President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said in a press statement with President Ilham Aliyev, APA's correspondent reports.
“The South Caucasus is one of the world's most important crossroads, connecting Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia. Its strategic importance continues to grow, and Azerbaijan plays a central role in this process. Very few countries are as well positioned as yours to contribute to the development of regional cooperation and stability. Azerbaijan is successfully combining its strategic geographical position with its growing economic, political, and regional influence. That is why we propose establishing an EU-Azerbaijan Connectivity Partnership. This initiative will be implemented in parallel with a high-level connectivity dialogue covering transport, energy, and digital connectivity,” the President of the European Commission noted.
