WHO: It is important the US to change its mind on suspending financial support

“There are 194 member countries to the WHO. And the annual payment is made in each country in accordance with the number of population and revenues. The US, Germany, Norway, especially Western Europe give extra money for some projects,” WHO Representative in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci said at the virtual press conference.

She said that the suspension of US financial support to the WHO has not affected the mission in Azerbaijan.

“According to the information we obtained from our central office in Geneva, it is discussed how the suspension of US financial support will influence to WHO. The changing of mind of the US regarding this issue is very important in terms of WHO funding,” H. HArmanci noted.

Note that some days ago, the President of the USA Donald Trump announced that he suspend financial support to the WHO.
