“The initial evidence show sensitivity of most people of the world to coronavirus. But this is a new virus, so far we haven’t encountered such a pandemic. Currently, there is no idea of what exactly should be done. But a number of organizations in the world have come together to work on this issue”, said Hande Harmanci, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan at the virtual press conference of that institution, APA reports.
She said in the fight against the virus, the system should be ready for 6 steps:
“1. Detection of each infection case; 2. Isolation of the infected patients; 3. Conducting tests in regard to suspicious cases; 4. Taking care of each patient; 5. Tracking of contact cases regarding the people infected with the virus and application of quarantine; 6. Involvement of people in the implemented works and conducting of awareness-raising campaign in this area”.
H. Harmanci said Azerbaijan has also done very serious works since the very beginning regarding the virus: “One of the most important works is detection and isolation of infected people in a short period of time, as infection of more people with the virus is being prevented now. Azerbaijan firstly did serious works on the border, infected people have been isolated. Isolation and quarantine have been implemented well in the country. Following public health rules, closing schools, universities, and most working places, and measures taken for people’s stay at home are noteworthy. The decrease in the number of people infected with the virus since April 10, gives hope that done works have effected. However, if the quarantine regime is removed suddenly, infection cases may increase again. That is why it is necessary to be attentive. Done works should be continued until the vaccine, medicine of the virus is found in order to prevent the rapid increase of the virus.”
