USAID supports School Economic Education Program at 230 schools in Azerbaijan

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev – APA-Economics. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), StatoilHydro and Chevron Khazar have inked a Memorandum of Understanding on School Economic Education Program (SEE).
Under the memorandum, the SEE will be implemented at 230 schools across the country by Junior Achievement Azerbaijan (JAA).
USAID Country Coordinator for Azerbaijan Mr. Scott Taylor said at the signing ceremony that 300 teachers and thousands of students will benefit from this program.
According to him, students will improve their business knowledge under the Student Companies Project.
US$209 631 was made available for the implementation of the program. Of this, US$72 631 was allocated by USAID, US$87 0000 by StatoilHydro and $50 000 by Chevron Khazar.
USAID has invested $284 million in Azerbaijan since 1992. USAID-funded projects are designed to support enhanced macroeconomic stability; improved public expenditure efficiency; improved financial sector linkages for the micro, small and medium enterprises sectors; strengthened enterprise competitiveness; improved health care service delivery; strengthened democratic processes; and robust civil society institutions.
