Warning for a mosque in Azerbaijanâ€™s capital

He said the State Committee on Religious Associations phoned the mosque and made the warning.
â€œAs the warning was oral, we did not obey it, if there is such a law, let them present it in written form,â€ he said.

Haji Shahin Hasanli said approximately 2000-2500 people perform Friday namaz in the mosque.
â€œThis is a Shiite mosque and no one comes here to pray for other purposes,â€ he said.

According to him, the documents of the mosque were presented to the State Committee for Religious Associations for reregistration.

Department chief of the State Committee for Religious Associations Gunduz Ismayilov told APA that the abovementioned mosque was recommended to perform namaz only inside the mosque. He said the recommendation concerns only Meshedi Dadash mosque.
â€œThe recent reports about provocation caused this. As regards Haji Shahin Hasanli, he is not the head of the religious community of Meshedi Dadash mosque, its member or Akhund appointed by the Caucasian Muslims Office. That person has nothing to do with the mosque,â€ he said.
