Religious communitiesâ€™ registration deadline expires

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. Deadline for religious communitiesâ€™ registration application expired, department chief of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Gunduz Ismayilov told APA. He said according to the legislation, the religious communities in the country should apply for double-registration until January 1, 2010. â€œThe deadline expired and will not be prolongedâ€.

Ismayilov said more than 600 religious communities had applied for registration so far. â€œThere were 534 registered communities before the amendments to the bill on freedom of faith. Now yet more communities have applied. It means that there was no problem. The new communities will not face with problems in their registrationâ€.

120 communities have been registered repeatedly so far.
