Russian Orthodox Church proposes to declare day of Napoleonâ€™s expulsion from Russia a National Holiday

Baku â€“ APA. Russian Orthodox Church proposed to declare January 7, the day of Napoleonâ€™s expulsion from Russia, which was declared by Tsar Alexander I, a National Holiday of the country.

This holiday was marked in Russia until 1915, but was banned for political reasons when Russia became Franceâ€™s ally in that year.

Other religious confessions of Russia also supported the proposal. Mufti Councilâ€™s Gulnur Gazeyeva found it as an interesting proposal and said Muslims made serious contribution to the Russiaâ€™s victory over Napoleon.
