Old City Mosqueâ€™s imam: â€œIt is haram and sin to feast during Muharramâ€

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. â€œIt is haram and sin to feats on the Day of Ashura and following days. The religious figures must summon the people to avoid celebrations on these days. Muharram is a tragic month when one of the greatest figures of Islam, Prophet Muhammadâ€™s grandson Imam Hussein became martyr. Muslims all over the world are commemorating these days in a special manner. We have also to behave worthy in accordance with our national-spiritual valuesâ€, imam of the Old City Mosque Haji Surkhay Mammadli told APA. He said the people should avoid New Year parties at the restaurants and wedding houses because this year Muharram, Ashura and following days coincide with the eve of New Year. He said the day of Imam Husseinâ€™s martyrdom was commemorated in Azerbaijan for long years. Surkhay Mammadli said that nothing good could be promised to those who broke national and religious traditions. â€œThis is tragedy and it is not correct to give parties on such days. The people should be more humanist on these daysâ€.
