President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan is of great importance in terms of further strengthening allied relations between the two countries, Zaur Mammadov, associate professor at the Academy of Public Administration under the President and political analyst, told APA.
The political analyst noted that the display of Azerbaijani flags in Tashkent ahead of President Ilham Aliyev’s visit, the display of portraits of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as the organization of a special drone show, demonstrated the special attention paid to Azerbaijan.
“Such elaborate welcoming ceremonies are rarely seen during foreign visits by heads of state. The display of Azerbaijani flags in Tashkent a day before President Ilham Aliyev’s visit, the display of portraits of the heads of state and the drone show are an indication of the special attitude toward the President of Azerbaijan and our state. This should be particularly appreciated,” he said.
Zaur Mammadov emphasized that major geopolitical changes are currently taking place across Eurasia and that, following the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan’s bilateral and multilateral relations with Turkic states have developed significantly.
“Azerbaijan’s place and weight in the Turkic world have increased considerably. Today, we see the results of this in various regional projects and processes. Azerbaijan is one of the states with significant political and geoeconomic weight in the Turkic world,” the political analyst noted.
According to him, Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations have already moved beyond the stage of strategic partnership and risen to the level of an alliance.
“This is an extremely important point. As allied states, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are systematically continuing to develop relations in all areas. Alongside joint investments and the strengthening of ties in various sectors of the economy and agriculture, a new chapter is also opening in political, military and security cooperation. This cooperation is of great importance in terms of further strengthening the sovereignty and independence of both countries,” he said.
The political analyst said that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as key states of the South Caucasus and Central Asia in the modern system of international relations, play a major role in the implementation of a number of strategic projects.
“Many regional projects cannot be implemented without the participation of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. At the same time, mutual support and coordination in response to threats directed against the national interests of the two sides are becoming increasingly important. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will continue their cooperation in countering existing and potential threats,” Zaur Mammadov emphasized.
He added that the results of President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan and the documents signed will create new opportunities for the future development of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations.
“The results of today’s visit will lay the foundation for a new stage in further deepening allied relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation in the political, economic and security spheres,” he said.
