"Security threats are not something we read about in books when it comes to our region," President Ilham Aliyev said at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, APA reports.
"Our agenda includes numerous priorities, and it is difficult to single out just one of them. Our global agenda includes sustainable development, the restoration and reconstruction of Karabakh, the completion of projects aimed at creating new transport routes, and the expansion of transport connectivity.
One of our main priorities is digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence. I recently signed a special decree on the development of these areas, and an appropriate commission, joint working group and council have been established for this purpose. Energy security will also remain one of the key issues on the global agenda. We have already achieved significant results in this area domestically. Nevertheless, demand for both our traditional energy resources and renewable energy sources will continue to grow. We have enormous potential in renewable energy. In Karabakh alone, hydropower plants with a total capacity of 340 megawatts have already been commissioned. Construction of a solar power plant with the same capacity – 340 megawatts – will be completed next year. Thus, electricity exports to the European market are among the key priorities on our agenda. The European market needs additional energy resources, while we have additional production capacity.
In addition, promoting our country internationally remains an important part of our daily work. We must continuously inform the international community about the work being carried out, the achievements we have made, and the challenges we face.
Under the current circumstances, however, the most important issue is probably security and defense capability. As we can see, security threats are not something we read about in books when it comes to our region. We live with this reality. Therefore, our agenda includes many priorities. But to sum it up, our main goal is to further strengthen our ability to defend our national interests and to establish practical, efficient and business-oriented cooperation with as many countries as possible," the head of state noted.
