53 countries express solidarity with recognition of Khojaly tragedy as act of genocide at session of OIC Parliamentary Union

The Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) told APA that Elmaddin Mehdiyev, chief of cabinet of the ICYF-DC International Secretariat also attended the forum. Mehdiyev said that the meeting is attended by parliamentarians from 53 member states and some delegations are led by speakers. The resolution on “The Cooperation between PUIC and ICYF-DC” adopted at the session has once again regarded the Khojaly tragedy as a crime against humanity and an act of genocide. The draft resolution put forward within “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, ICYF-DC General Coordinator for inter-cultural dialogue has been supported by the Azerbaijani Parliament and submitted to the Secretariat.

 

Delivering a speech on the first day of the conference, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov emphasized the importance of "Justice for Khojaly" campaign carried out by the ICYF-DC and urged the member states to support the campaign and express solidarity with the recognition of Khojaly genocide by supporting the resolution.

 

The OIC Parliamentary Union is composed of Parliaments from 53 countries. 20 international organizations, including the ICYF-DC have observer status in the organization.
