Today, the dangers children face are not limited only to the streets and the domestic environment; the virtual space has also become a serious risk environment, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ismat Aliyev said at the presentation ceremony of the research report titled “Legal Awareness of Adolescents in Azerbaijan” and the book “Children and Law,” APA reports.
He stated that incidents involving psychological pressure, harmful content, blackmail, online exploitation, and other dangerous situations are being observed through mass media and social networks: “In this regard, comprehensive measures are being implemented together with parents and educational institutions to raise awareness and increase knowledge in line with the challenges created by modern technologies.”
Ismat Aliyev noted that the protection of children's rights cannot be ensured by the activities of a single institution alone: “This requires coordinated cooperation among state bodies, educational institutions, families, and civil society organizations. Various events are organized within the framework of joint activities with the relevant state institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Meetings are held in secondary schools with the participation of commissions operating under local executive authorities, social workers, representatives of law enforcement agencies, and youth organizations, and public awareness-raising activities are organized. At the same time, relevant monitoring activities are carried out to prevent violations of children's rights and to ensure a safe environment in educational institutions.”
