The United States Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed new sanctions, targeting six individuals and four entities, including some tied to China and Hong Kong, that it claimed have supported weapons procurement on behalf of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL), APA reports.
"Through Economic Fury, the Treasury Department is disrupting the foreign procurement networks that support the Iranian military’s efforts to acquire weapons," US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. "Treasury has frozen the Iranian assets, severely disrupted its economy. Treasury will not tolerate any support of the Iranian military."
