While performing their official duties in the Omar Pass area of Kalbajar district, servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army, Rajab Mirish oghlu Mansimli and Ilyas Joshgun oghlu Osmanov, fell into a ravine after slipping due to the snowy and icy conditions in the area, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement, APA reports.
“Ilyas Joshgun oghlu Osmanov, who sustained various bodily injuries, was immediately provided with first aid and evacuated to the nearest medical facility. His condition is stable. Regretfully, we inform that it was not possible to save the life of Rajab Mirish oghlu Mansimli due to the injuries he sustained.
The leadership of the Ministry of Defense prays for mercy upon the deceased serviceman, shares the grief of his relatives, extends its deep condolences to his family, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured serviceman,” the Ministry of Defense statement said.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
