The Press Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has addressed a letter of gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

The letter addressed on behalf of the council chairman Rashad Majid reads:

"Honorable Mr. President,

Your Order dated April 25, 2025, on the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press is a detailed reflection of the honorable path our press has followed. This important state document is also a great recognition of the glorious traditions of our media, its role in shaping public opinion in Azerbaijan, and its mission in mobilizing for the ideas of statehood.

You have always highly appreciated the role of our media in the development of modern and independent Azerbaijan, as well as in the establishment of a legal state and civil society in our country. In the Jubilee Order — which serves as a roadmap for the future — your special attention to the work of our journalists during the 44-day Patriotic War adds a sense of pride and honor to the 150th anniversary.

You continue the tradition of state support for the media, established by our National Leader Heydar Aliyev. This policy line is evident in the irreversible and fundamental reforms taking place. We can say with confidence that the development in the media field stems directly from your reform-oriented policy.

During your meeting with the participants of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, you once again expressed your high regard for Azerbaijani media and acknowledged the development achieved through hard work and continuous effort. In your address to media representatives on July 22, 2025, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of our national press, you emphasized the sustainability of progress and expressed confidence that our media will continue to fulfill its duties with professionalism and objectivity — in informing society, contributing to the building of a modern society, and strengthening national unity. This confidence and the responsibilities you outlined within the context of global media trends only increase our sense of responsibility.

Our responsibility stems from your trust. Our journalists are honored to act as soldiers of the victorious Commander-in-Chief who liberated Karabakh and ended the occupation of our lands. They are proud to support your political course that brings prosperity and peace to our people and stability to our region. For every journalist, this pride is a powerful moral incentive — a source of creative enthusiasm, high spirit, and determined work.

It is gratifying that the media policy of the Azerbaijani state not only reflects a conceptually driven line of action but also includes a sensitive attitude toward journalists. This sensitivity is reflected in the tradition of recognizing media professionals with state honors — titles, orders, and medals. As in previous jubilees, this tradition, initiated by you in 2005, was vividly continued in the 150th anniversary of our national press. With your Order dated July 21, 2025, on the “Awarding of Media Representatives,” you granted more than 200 of our colleagues an incredible sense of happiness.

Honorable Mr. President, for all of this — and in general, for your constant sensitivity toward the media and journalists, for your appreciation and recognition of our profession — I express, on behalf of the Board of the Azerbaijan Press Council that I lead and the entire journalistic community of our country, our deep gratitude and appreciation. We wish you continued success in your tireless service for our Homeland, Azerbaijan.”
