A panel discussion on the topic "How the evolution of social media affects public trust: In the context of media literacy" was held within the framework of the III Shusha Global Media Forum, APA's correspondent assigned to Shusha reports.

Karen Sutherland, senior lecturer in public relations at the School of Business and Creative Industries of the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in Australia, social media trainer and researcher, Sergey Sokolov, director of the public policy and government affairs department of TikTok/ByteDance for Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Mongolia, Dennis Yu, expert on Google and YouTube, CEO of BlitzMetrics, as well as Simas Clancy, head of public sector, healthcare and non-profit sales for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and LATAM (Latin America) regions of LinkedIn, participated in the panel discussion.

During the panel, Karen Sutherland noted that some journalists follow ethical principles and check the accuracy of information, but some prefer to spread unverified news just to gain popularity.

Sergey Sokolov, in his speech, said that just because someone gives you information, this does not mean that they are a journalist: "People sometimes, without realizing it, consider the information provider, not the media, to be reliable."
