National Television and Radio Council to fine TV channels

The National Television and Radio Council will impose fines against the TV channels, which violated the legislation on advertisements, NTRC chairman Nushiravan Maharramli told APA. According to him, the Azerbaijani TV channels have problems on advertisements at present: “The council discussed this issue on the eve of New Year, several channels were given warning. But we didn’t want to highlight this issue on holidays. We said to those TV channels that if it continued so, we would seriously approach to this issue. The NTRC members also unambiguously said that this issue must be solved.”

Maharramli said that there were serious violations in the TV channels on duration of an advertisement: “There are such TV channels that the duration of the advertisement significantly increased. We will discuss this issue in the next two weeks and pass a serious decision. There will be no warnings, the fines will be imposed directly. We will try to regulate the situation on advertisement in accordance with the law.”
