Reports published by some media outlets in this regard are false, it is nothing but a lie, unawareness of the essence of social network technology,” head of Butalife Ilham Abduyev told APA while commenting on the reports that Butalife conducted a poll on the presidential elections.
He said hundreds of thousands of users have been registered in the social network up to now: “78 000 of them are online, while I’m talking with you. We don’t exclude the fact that some of them are fake profiles that use social network for certain purposes.”
Abduyev said that the poll on the presidential elections in Azerbaijan has been posted by a user who has only 12 friends: “It was posted only by the user without any social base and who did not observe the rules for conducting the poll. Just because of the rules of the network, polls are posted public and available for other users. However, I want to note that we have reviewed the profile after the media reports and revealed that the figures do not coincide with those on media. According to the current results of the poll, President Ilham Aliyev leads in the poll by large margin.
Abduyev noted that to describe a user’s message on his page as a poll of the website indicates lack of awareness on information technologies and desire to use it for personal purposes: “Those who have written this has also been registered in various social networks. For example, do they think that Mark Zuckerberg bears responsibility for their messages on Facebook? If they are members of Butalife, they must know the rules of this social network well. The claims made by pro-opposition media outlets are ridiculous and arise from ignorance.”
Butalife social network was established on September 17, 2012.
