Vienna. Vugar Mustafayev – APA. The annual meeting of the European Newspaper Congress that kicked off in Vienna yesterday has ended.
APA reports that the second day of the session, held under the slogan “Forum of European countries’ media editors”, focused on working conditions of journalists, inspiration of their activities and social aspects.
Moreover, participants of the forum discussed the current problems and prospects of print media, sales and subscription processes and their proper organization, determination of circulation, writing of more complete, short and timely texts, research, protection of interests and other urgent issues.
The main theme of the meeting was dedicated to management-related problems in the press, involvement of free journalists in the process and promotion of the work of employees.
Addressing the conference, expert and climber Georg Bachler noted that proper organization of management, development of sound relations between leadership and employees play an important role in the organization of activities of an entity or press agency. He said every press manager should ensure free and independent work of employees to determine the real potential of the staff: “A person’s capacity is enough to achieve many goals. Simply the limits of his/her capabilities should not be underestimated."
Moreover, Bachler underlined the importance of unity within the workforce: “I climbed 8000 m high mountains in the world and realized that I could not have achieved this alone. In the work process, final achievements depend on a healthy team spirit. It is necessary to pay special attention to the inspirationof employees.”
As a part of the event, award ceremony of “Newspaper of the Year” prize was held. Norwegian Bygdanytt newspaper was awarded on the nomination of “Local newspaper”, Spanish El Correo on the nomination of “Regional newspaper”, Dutch Trouw and Belgian De Tijd newspapers on the nomination of “National newspaper”, German Die Zeit on the nomination of “Weekly newspaper” and German Welt am Sonntag on the nomination of “Special prize”.
Mass media representatives of the most Western, Central European and former Soviet countries are attending the meeting organized with the support of Vienna City Hall and Japan Tobacco International Company.
