Aflatun Amashov: The list of journalists to be asked for pardoning will be discussed

Press Council is planning to appeal to Azerbaijani President on pardoning imprisoned journalists. The list of journalists to be asked for pardoning will be debated at the meeting of Managing Board to be held soon, Press Council chief Aflatun Amashov told the APA.
He said that three prisoners of Detention Place#11 â€“ Mahammadali Garibov, Nizami Hajiyev and Bayram Aliyev appealed to the Organization and said that they have been imprisoned for their trade activity, and asked to include their names to the list of journalists to be pardoned.
â€œThey stated that they will start termless hunger strike if it is not carried out and stated that they want to meet with me. Only Mahammadali Garibovâ€™s parents appealed to the Press Council regarding pardoning among the above-said people. We also appealed to the proper instances regarding this issue before. There is no information about the other two persons in Press Council. Press Council brings meeting with imprisoned journalists to the agenda periodically,â€ he said. /APA/
