Gundalik Azerbaijan correspondents refuse financial assistance

All correspondents of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper refused financial assistance allocated by Assistance Foundation of Freedom of Speech and Journalists’ Defense for the journalists underwent pressure and lost their jobs and imprisoned journalist, the newspaper correspondents told the APA. They said that totally $ 1000 has been allotted for the newspaper, $30 per person.
“The amount should have been $200. We refuse taking this money. This is the decision of all the staff,” he said.
The foundation passed a decision on allocating $350 to the families of Azadliq (Liberty) newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit, editor-in-chief of Mukhalifet (opposition) newspaper Rovshan Kabirli, editor-in-chief of Sanat newspaper Samir Sadagatoglu, the newspaper correspondent Rafig Tagiand $250 to the family of Mukhalifet newspaper department chief Yashar Agazade.
The journalists injured while fulfilling their duties, correspondents of Azadliq newspaper Fikret Huseynli, Nijat Daglar, correspondent of Yeni Musavat newspaper Etibar Seyidaga will get $100 and editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Uzeyir Jafarov will get $150.
The foundation passed a decision to give $100 to the correspondent of suspended Realny Azerbaijan newspaper Chingiz Sultansoy and $1000-lump sum allowance to the correspondents of the suspended Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper.
The Open Society Institute – Assistance Foundation allocated $10 000 financial assistance. /APA/
