Rights defense committee of imprisoned correspondent of Azadliq (Freedom) newspaper Mirza Sakit held a meeting, APA repots. The committee chief Emin HUseynli, Mirza Sakit’s brother Ganimat Zahid and the prisoner’s wife Rana Zahidova participated at the meeting.
They said that Mirza Sakit’s rights were violated. The defense committee also noted that keeping him very far from his house contradicts the demands of European Human Rights Convention.
Emin Huseynli said that they started marathon for financial aid taking into account financial problems of imprisoned journalists.
They noted that the marathon will end on Press Day – July 22 and the assistance will be distributed among the families of 7 imprisoned journalists.
They participants said that they will appeal to European Court of Human Rights against the court decision about Mirza Sakit. /APA/
