Appeal of imprisoned Mukhalifet correspondents sent to court

Editor-in-chief of Mukhalifet (Opposition) newspaper Rovshen Kebirli and correspondent Yashar Agazade, kept in Bayil detention place #1 complain that the appeal field against the decision of Yasamal district court has not been sent to Appeals Court, the journalist’s lawyer, director of Media Rights Institute Rashid Hajili told the APA. He said they filed an appeal on May 29, but the judge Malahat Abdulmanafova has not sent the necessary documents to Appeals Court.
Hajili said he appealed to Yasamal district court chairman Ilgar Abasov.
Rovshen Kebirli’s lawyer Aslan Ismayilov also told the APA that the judge has not yet sent the appeal to Appeals Court.
Yasamal district court told the APA that the appeal has today been sent to the Appeals Court.
Yasamal district court sentenced Rovshen Kebirli and Yashar Agazade to two and a half year in jail with libel charge on the claim of parliamentarian, academician Jalal Aliyev. /APA/
