“Despite having many problems, Azerbaijani journalists should settle problems not in the streets but through negotiations. Settling problems through negotiating is more effective than holding street actions. I am against the discussion of journalists’ problems in the streets,” Azerbaijan Press Council’s chairman Aflatun Amashov told APA.
Touching upon the political parties’ participation in the action of journalists to be held on June 12 Aflatun Amashov said there is difference between the missions of parties and journalists. “If the representatives of every profession carry out their duties it would be better”. According to Aflatun Amashov Press Council drafted comprehensive document on journalists’ problems and presented to corresponding bodies. “We are waiting for answer on that document until July 22- National Press day”.
As to organization of dialogue on the discussion of situation on press Amashov said in the past his body did the work which OSCE could not do. “In 2003 we organized the meeting of the leaders of the political parties. It had effective results”.
Aflatun Amashov said Press Council is working on several projects to carry out such steps. According to him the future dialogue could have different formats.” This dialogue could happen among press organs’ leaders, political leaders, in the same time between media and power”./APA/
