Aflatun Amashov: Journalists should settle problems not in the street but through dialogue

â€œDespite having many problems, Azerbaijani journalists should settle problems not in the streets but through negotiations. Settling problems through negotiating is more effective than holding street actions. I am against the discussion of journalistsâ€™ problems in the streets,â€ Azerbaijan Press Councilâ€™s chairman Aflatun Amashov told APA.
Touching upon the political partiesâ€™ participation in the action of journalists to be held on June 12 Aflatun Amashov said there is difference between the missions of parties and journalists. â€œIf the representatives of every profession carry out their duties it would be betterâ€. According to Aflatun Amashov Press Council drafted comprehensive document on journalistsâ€™ problems and presented to corresponding bodies. â€œWe are waiting for answer on that document until July 22- National Press dayâ€.
As to organization of dialogue on the discussion of situation on press Amashov said in the past his body did the work which OSCE could not do. â€œIn 2003 we organized the meeting of the leaders of the political parties. It had effective resultsâ€.
Aflatun Amashov said Press Council is working on several projects to carry out such steps. According to him the future dialogue could have different formats.â€ This dialogue could happen among press organsâ€™ leaders, political leaders, in the same time between media and powerâ€./APA/
