Journalists seeking asylum abroad want to meet with officials

Correspondents of suspended Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realny Azerbaijan newspapers, seeking asylum abroad, want to meet with representatives of the government, editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Uzeyir Jafarov told the APA.
He said that they want to meet with head of President’s Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov. He also added that they will appeal to relevant bodies.
“Ramiz Mehdiyev, Ramil Usubov, Zakir Garalov said that there is no ground to seek asylum abroad. We want to meet with these officials and discuss this problem,†he said.
Jafarov said appeals of the journalists seeking asylum abroad will be presented to UN office in Azerbaijan today.
The editor said that the embassies and international organizations have not yet answered their appeals regarding asylum. /APA/
