Dunja Mijatovic: â€œSecurity of journalists and bloggers in Azerbaijan has always been in the focus of our attentionâ€

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. â€œIn most cases persecutions of journalists are not exceptions. The main problem is impunity of those who order and commit crimes. I donâ€™t say that the situation in Azerbaijan is so good. Journalists are persecuted and tortured in many other countries, tooâ€, said Dunja Mijatovic, OSCE Representative for Media Freedom at the press conference on the outcomes of her visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Mijatovic said that she didnâ€™t want to compare countries: â€œIt is not my work. We have raised the issue on the death of journalists before the authorities. Our organization was the first to react to it. The security of journalists and bloggers in Azerbaijan has always been in the focus of our attention. We met with Abbas Zeynalov, Hilal Mammadov, Faramaz Novruzoglu and other journalists. Once, I have raised the issue on the â€œAzadligâ€ newspaper. The problem was solved. Then problems appeared again. I have again raised this issue.â€
