9th Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty

According to APA, delivering speech at the Forumâ€™s opening ceremony, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said this forum was a traditional meeting of the representatives of public and other organizations and mass media, which was discussing topical problems of mankind.

He said as an initiator of similar international events, Kazakhstan held a congress of traditional world religions for three times. â€œKazakhstan took OSCE Presidency this year. Kazakhstan is the first country in CIS taking the Presidency of his important international organization. Considering the last similar OSCE summit in Istanbul in 1999, we proposed to hold the summit in Astana this year. The issues to put on the summitâ€™s agenda are discussed nowâ€.

The president added that Kazakhstan would take the Presidency at the Organization of the Islamic Conference next year. He said Kazakhstan was using the important international organizations to discuss the problems of poverty, global economic crisis, conflicts, natural cataclysms and other global problems and to search ways out from these problems.

The Media Forum will take place on April 27-28. It will focus on the issues like Kazakhstanâ€™s OSCE Presidency, political situation in Iran and its nuclear program, NATO-Kazakhstan partnership, topical world problems and mass mediaâ€™s role in coverage of global processes.
