APA hosts Public Affairs Officer of U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan Terry R. Davidson - <font color=red> PHOTOSESSION</font>

The American diplomat met with Director General Vusala Mahirgizi, Deputy Director General Nurshan Guliyev and the staff.

Independence and problems of mass media in Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting. Davidson spoke about his practice as a journalist and features of the American journalism. He noted that world-known agencies do not function so actively in Caucasus, and that is why dominant role belongs to local mass media: â€œI congratulate APA for its development and achievementsâ€.

Answering the questions, Davidson stated that he observed improvement in mass media within two years and a half of his activity in Azerbaijan. Mahirgizi said that head of media outlet should have managerial skills. She noted that the main problems in print media are lack of advertisement and low salary of journalists: â€œNowadays, most prefer to pos advertisement in e-media and internet, as the access to Internet is more. And circulation of newspapers is known to everybody and it is impossible to know how many newspapers are soldâ€.
