During her visit to Baku, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh emphasized the importance of activating the Iran–Azerbaijan–Georgia trilateral corridor, APA reports citing Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Farzaneh Sadegh met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, in Baku.
The meeting reviewed the current state of transport cooperation between the two countries. The sides discussed existing obstacles, particularly issues related to the movement of drivers across the territories of both countries, and stressed the need to accelerate solutions and adopt implementation decisions.
The necessary instructions have been issued to monitor and resolve the issues raised in this regard. Both sides agreed to hold a joint meeting of the ministers of the three countries in Baku this year in order to strengthen the implementation mechanisms of this transit route and finalize the necessary coordination, with the aim of enhancing the operation of the Iran–Azerbaijan–Georgia corridor.
According to the agreements reached, the Joint Transport Committee of the two countries is expected to convene within one month to adopt the necessary decisions aimed at eliminating existing obstacles and developing transport cooperation.
On February 23, the 17th meeting of the State Commission on cooperation in economic, trade and humanitarian fields between Azerbaijan and Iran was held in Baku, and a memorandum of understanding was signed.
