Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has commented on the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the naval blockade against Iran, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
Baghaei stated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is a result of the aggression by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran and the use of military bases in the region.
Baghaei added that the talks with Oman are solely a bilateral process aimed at determining a safe route for international shipping and are not related to political disagreements.
He emphasized that, under UN General Assembly Resolution 3314, the continuation of the naval blockade by the U.S. is clearly considered an “act of aggression.”
Baghaei noted that as long as hostile actions continue, there are no conditions for ensuring the security of this waterway.
According to him, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the U.S. ending its illegal actions, lifting the naval blockade, and compensating for the damage caused.
