A tender has been announced for the construction of the second section of the Tbilisi-Rustavi road of the Tbilisi-Red Bridge international highway, which runs to the Azerbaijani border in Georgia, APA's local bureau reports, citing Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia.
The project includes the construction of a 3.6-kilometer road and two new bridges (211 and 170 meters) over the Kura River in the Ponichala section. Recreation areas and safe pedestrian zones equipped with traffic lights will also be created along the coast.
In addition, a two-level transport interchange that fully meets the requirements of both local and international transit transportation will be built, and a single-level interchange will be organized in the Ponichala area to regulate local traffic.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia, the construction of the new road section will significantly reduce the intensity of freight and transit transportation on city streets, shorten travel times and increase the level of safety.
It was noted that all relevant construction, environmental and social standards will be taken into account during the construction of the road.
