The total length of the Ahmadbayli–Horadiz–Minjivan–Aghband highway is 123.6 kilometers. Currently, work is being carried out at the 113.5th kilometer mark, said Ilham Suleymanov, Deputy Head of the Investment Department of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, while briefing the diplomatic corps, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Zangilan reports.
He noted that the road is being constructed in accordance with the standards of the first technical category: “The width of the carriageway varies between 14 and 21 meters. A 78.5-kilometer section of the project consists of six traffic lanes, while the remaining 45 kilometers have four lanes. Within the framework of the project, three tunnels with a total length of 6 kilometers have been built in each direction. The total length of the tunnels is 12 kilometers, and final finishing works are currently underway. The tunnels are fully ready for operation.”
Ilham Suleymanov added that the project is planned to be fully completed in the first half of 2026: “Along the route, 24 bridges, 8 interchanges, and 44 underpasses with a total length of 1,980 meters have been constructed. At present, excavation and embankment works on the final 10-kilometer section of the project are nearing completion. The project is expected to be fully finalized by our agency in the first half of next year.”
The department official also noted that the highway will run parallel to the railway line.
