Committee: We can restore historical center of Shusha in detail

We can restore the historic center of Shusha city in sufficient detail, said Muslim Imranli, head of the Architecture and Urban Planning Department of the Karabakh Regional Main Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, under Azerbaijan's State Committee for Urban Planning, during the event themed “Unity of Youth for Our Future Cities” held within the framework of the "III National Urban Forum" in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

“However, since the restoration process is very expensive and lengthy, it will take a very long time,” he added.

M. Imranli said that there are important images related to the history of Shusha in the archive of architect Elturan Avalov:

“Recently, we obtained a large archive consisting of the many negatives from Mr. Elturan. With his consent, we took these negatives. There are approximately 1,500 negatives. He took photos of Shusha in the 70s and 80s. They were never published or digitized. We started that process, digitized them, and now we can easily know what Shusha looked like in the 70s and 80s, and which streets located where. Because the city has been destroyed many times, and we find its traces from old archives.”
