New regulations have been developed for the protection of surface water in Azerbaijan, head of The State Control Service for Water Use and Protection under the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, Atakhan Badalov, told journalists, APA reports.
He stated that once the document is finalized, it will not only establish the permissible levels of pollutants discharged into water bodies related to fishing activities but also set the permissible levels of waste discharged into water and water management facilities across the country.
Mr Badalov also mentioned that amendments to the Administrative Offenses Code are being considered. However, the aim is not to increase the penalties specified in the Code. He explained that the current administrative violations have not been clearly defined and are only committed by certain individuals in society.
The agency studies global practices in this regard and intends to include these actions in the Code. Public hearings on this matter will also be held.
