"Cargo turnover along the Middle Corridor route is rapidly increasing," said Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev during a panel discussion held within the framework of the V Tbilisi Silk Way Forum, APA's local bureau reports.
He noted that in 2022, only one or two container trains were sent from China, while last year their number increased to 18.
"In the first nine months of this year, we have already received about 290 trains. We expect 400 container trains to pass through the territory of Azerbaijan by the end of the year. If previously it took 53 days to deliver cargo from the Kazakhstan-China border to Batumi, now only 18 days are enough. Our goal is to triple the volume of cargo," the minister said.
