Baku–APA-Economics. NYSE Euronext (NYS) reported fourth-quarter net loss of $1.34 billion, or $5.06 per share, compared to a profit of $156 million or $0.59 per share in the year-ago quarter, RTTNews.
The net loss for the fourth quarter 2008 includes a pre-tax $1.59 billion non-cash charge, primarily for the impairment of certain goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets related to the merger of NYSE Group and Euronext.
Loss from continuing operations was $1.34 billion or $5.07 per share, compared to a profit of $154 million or $0.58 per share a year ago.
Pro-forma non-GAAP net income was $137 million, or $0.52 per share, compared to $173 million or $0.65 per share in the fourth quarter of 2007.
On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated the company to report $0.55 per share for the quarter. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenue for the quarter grew to $1.22 billion from $1.1 billion in the prior year quarter. Pro-forma non-GAAP revenue was $1.18 billion, up from $974 million last year. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $1.19 billion for the quarter.
The Board said it had decided to maintain the $0.30 quarterly dividend for our shareholders through 2009.
