Baku hosts Azerbaijan-California ICT Forum

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. An Azerbaijan-California ICT Forum took place in Baku on November 12 on the sidelines of the 14th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition (BakuTel-2008).
Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijanâ€™s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, praised the development of cooperation in the ICT field between Azerbaijan and the United States, saying the two countries signed a number of documents over the past one and a half years to further deepen cooperation.
He underscored liberalization of Azerbaijanâ€™s ICT market, saying any foreign company can easily do business in the country.
He also said that the US-based company Shamrock Holdings will soon have presence in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijanâ€™s Consul General in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov added that a meeting will be held in the United States in February, 2009 to gather together IT firms of the two countries.
According to him, Ali Abbasov is due to attend the meeting too.
â€œIf any Azeri company aspires to create relations with U.S. companies, our consulate general is willing to support and mediate between them,â€ he added.
Representatives of Kansas Energy, Tool Shed Group, CyberNet, TiaLinx, Ncomputing and other companies also briefed the participants about their activities.
