Israeli companies intend to enter Azerbaijan’s ICT market

Baku. Ilham Isabalayeva - APA-Economics. The Azerbaijani-Israel Hi-tech High Tech Opportunities Seminar has today taken place in Baku on the sidelines of the 14th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition (BakuTel-2008).
Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Arthur Lenk praised the development of ICT cooperation between the two countries, saying two ICT seminars have been held over the past two years.
Briefing the participants about his country’s capacity, he said Israel has a highly developed human resources system.
According to him, Israel is the number one in the world in terms of engineers per capita.
He said Israeli companies like Amos Spacecom, Gilat SATCOM, Gilat Satellite Networks, Ness TSG, RADWİN and Shamrock International take great interest in Azerbaijan’s market.
He added that Ness TSG has already established a subsidiary in Azerbaijan.
Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, said that Israel’s recent development has drawn worldwide attention.
The Minister highlighted the increasing rate of development of bilateral cooperation in information and communication technologies, saying there are a number of Israeli companies operating in Azerbaijan.
“Today, many companies pay attention to Azerbaijan because presence in our country provides an opportunity to enter the regional market,” he added.
He also said that Israel’s Amos Spacecom is negotiating with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies to have a presence in the field of satellite communications.
