Azerbaijan to kick off BakuTel-2008 Exhibition on November 11

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva - APA-Economics. Iteca Caspian (Azerbaijan) and ITE Group Plc (UK) will be holding 14th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition (BakuTel-2008) from November 11 to 14.
Elmir Velizadeh, Azerbaijanâ€™s Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, told a press conference that the largest IT exhibition in the Caspian is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, International Telecommunication Union, Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications, and Azerbaijan Export and Investment promotion Foundation (AzPromo).
Officials and businessmen from amore than 15 countries will attend the exhibition that will be held under the patronage of Azerbaijani President.
According to him, a regional ministerial meeting will take place on the sidelines of the exhibition.
He attributed to the high prices of internet service prices in the region to the lack of a high-speed information highway from Bulgaria to Pakistan.
â€œThe ministerial meeting will focus on the construction of a high-speed information highway and its connection to the international backbone,â€ he added.
The exhibition sections include Telecommunications & Networks, It & Office Technologies, Cable & Wireless, Satellite Communication & Technologies, Broadcasting & Professional Equipment, Banking Technologies & Services, Security Systems, Broadband Communication and Technologies, Software & Automation Systems, E-Government & E-Learning etc.
Besides, Azerbaijan-Israel, Azerbaijan-Estonia Workshops and Azerbaijan-California Business Forum will take place as part of the event.
Rana Abdullayeva, manager of the exhibition, said that 105 companies from 21 countries, including the USA, France, Germany, Turkey, Israel, Russia, China and others will attend the exhibition. The event will be wrapped up on November 14.
