St. Petersburg to host next round of discussion on the North-South Project

Railroad officials will come together in St. Petersburg on November 17-19 to discuss a final draft of the feasibility study for Astara-Gezvin-Resht rail link in Iran as part of the North-South Project, said Nadir Azmammadov, Press Secretary of Azerbaijan State Railways Company (ADDY).
He added that Azerbaijn will be represented by ADDY Deputy Chairman Igbal Huseynov.
Heads of railways of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral memorandum on mutual understanding on March 29 on the conditions for building the Gazvin-Rasht-Astara rail line, which is part of the International North-South Transport Corridor.
Russia, Iran and India launched negotiations on establishment of the North-South Corridor in September, 2000 and final agreement was reached on May 11, 2002. Azerbaijan joined the project in 2005.
