AzQtel to launch commercial use of mobile WIMAX

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan-based AzQtel plans to launch commercial use of mobile WiMAX in two months.

The company said its present coverage area includes Baku, Mardakan, Shuvelan and in the Shimal Thermal Power Plant but there are plans to expand wireless service to other regions.

The company provides the broadband internet connection through WiMAX at speeds from 128 kbps to 1024 kbps.

AzQtel offers high-speed internet, VPN and Managed Network Operations.

The company intends to start IP-telephony services in the near future.

Established by Qtel Global Networks (UK) and TransKaspian Telekom (Azerbaijan) in 2005, AzQtel’s main focus is on the WiMax-based wireless internet services.
